Video Poker is a favored game that is able to be enjoyed in casinos around the world, or alternatively at home on your PC, using a net connection. The game rules are absolutely simple and consist of the player trying to get the best combination of cards as you can in order to come away with money. In this respect it is much the same as a normal game of poker, apart from the interaction with any other players. Of course, techniques used in a real-life game of poker, such as tricking, will be irrelevant here.
The game of Electronic Poker begins when the gambler puts credits (either tokens, tickets or cash) into the video poker machine and pushes the deal button. A hand of five cards will be electronically ‘given out’ on the screen.
The Video Poker game also has hold buttons, and enthusiasts will need to now pick which cards to keep and which to throw away. For the cards the enthusiast wishes to retain, the ‘hold’ buttons must be pressed so that they light up. The player can decide to keep any number of cards they want, from all to none.
After the gambler has decided on which cards he or she wishes to retain, the player will then press ‘deal’, at which point any fresh cards will be handed out if desired. The hand is now completed, with the Electronic Poker machine scanning the hand to see if it matches any of the winning hands listed in the pay out schedule.
Generally, the minimum succeeding hand on an Electronic Poker machine is a pair of jacks with the award money growing for each better hand. A list of common winning hands starts with jacks or better, moving on to 2 pairs, 3 of a kinds, straights, flushes, full houses, four of a kinds, straight flushes and finally royal flushes. It should be known that the payment schedule can range from machine to machine, so that discerning bettors are able to choose the most profitable ones each instance.
After the first round has played out, the player can either decide to stay on in an attempt to increase their earnings, or they can press the ‘collect’ button to retrieve any credits that they may have won. Further, several versions of the game allow the bettor an opportunity to double their winnings, in which case another hand is played. There are also differences between individual games, with some decks of cards having wild cards and other differing elements to enhance playability.
