Electronic Poker is a popular game that is able to be played in casinos around the world, or alternatively at home on your home computer, using an Internet connection. The rules are very simple and consist of the player trying to achieve the best assemblage of cards possible in order to win cash. On this account it is very similar as a regular game of poker, without the involvement with any other players. Of course, methods used in a real-life game of poker, such as bluffing, will be irrelevant here.
The game of Video Poker starts when the player puts credits (whether it’s tokens, tickets or cash) into the machine and presses the deal button. A hand of five cards will then be electronically ‘handed out’ on the screen.
The Video Poker machine also has hold buttons, and gamblers should now choose which cards to keep and which to discard. For the cards the player wishes to retain, the ‘hold’ buttons must be pressed so that they illuminate. The player can choose to keep any number of cards they want, whether it is all or none.
After the enthusiast has decided on which cards she would like to retain, the player will then press ‘draw’, at which point any fresh cards are needed they will be given out. The hand is now completed, with the Video Poker machine scanning the hand to see if it matches any of the winning hands shown on the payout schedule.
Typically, the lowest winning hand on an Electronic Poker machine is a pair of jacks with the award money getting larger for each and every better hand. A list of common winning hands starts with jacks or better, moving on to two pairs, 3 of a kinds, straights, flushes, full houses, 4 of a kinds, straight flushes and finally royal flushes. It goes without saying that the payment schedule can vary from game to game, so that knowledgeable players are able to choose the most money-making machine every time.
Once the first round has played out, the player can either decide to stay on in an attempt to increase their earnings, or press the ‘collect’ button to retrieve any cash that they may have won. Further, some versions of the game allow the player an opportunity to double their winnings, in which case a further hand is played. There are also variations between individual games, with some decks of cards having wild cards and other differing aspects to increase playability.
